We're kicking off our discussion in the NICE Community Forum at www.NICENetwork.ning.com with how to get started by volunteering as a mentor for kids. Dan Bassill has been at it for decades and oversees the Tutor-Mentor Connection and Cabrini Connections project in Chicagoland. He maintains that there are 13 million kids in the U.S., that if they aren't mentored by someone, will end up dependent on "the system" and out of the employment mainstream. This is a topic that affects employers, teachers, and all of us as citizens.
